About the Opportunity
A well-established, multidisciplinary Architecture and Engineering consulting firm is seeking a Project Engineer - Civil/Site to join its growing team in Buffalo, New York.
This role offers the opportunity to lead civil/site engineering projects throughout New York State while working alongside collaborative, multidisciplinary teams. The successful candidate will apply expertise in site design, grading, drainage, utilities, stormwater management, and civil engineering design across a diverse portfolio of commercial, industrial, municipal, institutional, and residential projects. In addition to technical project delivery, this position will mentor junior engineers, coordinate with clients and regulatory agencies, and contribute to the continued growth of the civil engineering department.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the design and development of comprehensive civil/site engineering projects.

Prepare and oversee site plans, grading, drainage, stormwater management systems, roadways, parking lots, utilities, and pedestrian/vehicular circulation.

Develop watershed models and engineering design calculations.

Assign and review design work completed by junior engineering staff.

Prepare and review engineering reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates.

Perform technical and quality reviews to ensure compliance with applicable standards.

Coordinate with clients, consultants, municipalities, and regulatory agencies.

Obtain required permits and approvals.

Conduct site visits, project investigations, and provide construction support as needed.

Travel throughout New York State as required.
Qualifications
-
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering.

New York State Professional Engineer (PE) license.

Minimum 6 years of civil/site engineering experience (8-10+ years preferred).

Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Experience using hydrology and hydraulic modeling software such as:

HydroCAD

Hydraflow Express

TR-55

TR-20
-
or equivalent applications

Experience with:

NYS Stormwater Management Design
-
SWPPP preparation
-
Erosion & Sediment Control Plans
-
NYS SEQR process
-
Environmental Assessment Forms (EAF)

Knowledge of municipal site plan review processes and utility coordination.

Strong communication and client relationship skills.

Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to manage multiple projects while mentoring junior staff.
