About the Opportunity
A respected multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm is seeking a Project Engineer - Land Development (PE) to join its growing New Jersey team based in Newark, NJ.
This is an excellent opportunity for a licensed Professional Engineer who enjoys managing land development projects from concept through construction while working with a collaborative team. The successful candidate will lead site development projects for commercial, industrial, mixed-use, residential, institutional, and public-sector clients throughout New Jersey.
Key Responsibilities

Manage land development projects through planning, design, permitting, and construction.

Prepare and oversee site layout, grading, drainage, utility, roadway, and parking lot designs.

Design stormwater management systems in accordance with New Jersey regulations.

Develop engineering calculations, reports, specifications, and construction documents.

Coordinate municipal, county, and state permitting and land use approvals.

Prepare and review Soil Erosion & Sediment Control plans.

Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to produce high-quality engineering plans.

Coordinate with surveyors, architects, planners, environmental consultants, and utility companies.

Manage project schedules, budgets, and client communications.

Mentor junior engineers and technical staff while providing quality control reviews.

Attend client meetings, municipal hearings, and project site visits as needed.
Qualifications
-
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.

Active New Jersey Professional Engineer (PE) license.

5+ years of experience in land development engineering.

Strong knowledge of New Jersey land development regulations and permitting processes.

Experience designing:

Site grading
-
Stormwater management systems
-
Utility infrastructure
-
Roadways and parking facilities

Erosion and sediment control measures
-
Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Experience with hydrology and hydraulic modeling software such as HydroCAD or similar.

Familiarity with NJDEP stormwater regulations and local municipal approval processes.

Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and schedule expectations.
