About the Opportunity
Our recruitment team has partnered with a respected multi-discipline architecture/engineering firm to identify an experienced Project Engineer for their growing civil/site engineering department in Buffalo. This role offers you the chance to lead diverse civil and site projects across New York State-spanning commercial, industrial, municipal, academic, institutional and residential developments-while shaping the direction of the department and mentoring junior staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently develop and oversee site plans, traffic circulation layouts, roadways, parking lots, utilities, grading and drainage systems, watershed models and design calculations.

• Delegate tasks to junior staff, and review plans, specifications, reports and cost estimates for accuracy and completeness.

• Perform technical and quality reviews of design work in accordance with company and client standards, and serve as Engineer of Record for projects under your supervision.

• Coordinate with internal teams, clients and government agencies to secure permits and approvals, and conduct project investigations or construction support across New York State.

Your Background

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering.

• At least six years of site design experience (eight to ten years preferred) and a New York State PE license.

• Proficient in AutoCAD/Civil?3D and watershed modelling/hydrology tools (TR-55, TR-20, HydroCAD, Hydraflow Express or similar).

• Demonstrated experience with NYS stormwater management and erosion/sediment control requirements, including SWPPP preparation and inspections, as well as local SEQR and environmental assessment processes.

• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; able to manage multiple assignments and mentor junior staff.

• Knowledge of local utility standards; certifications such as CPESC, LEED?AP or ENV?SP are advantageous.

• Previous experience in a multi-discipline A/E environment and a valid driver’s licence are required.
