Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the planning, design, and delivery of complex electrical systems for major transportation infrastructure initiatives. This high-level technical role encompasses oversight for transit, rail, roadway, tunnel, and airport projects. The ideal candidate will provide design leadership, technical oversight, and mentorship to junior staff while collaborating heavily with key transportation agencies and multi-disciplinary teams to deliver safe, resilient, and code-compliant infrastructure.
Mandatory Qualifications & Education

Experience: A minimum of 15 years of progressive, hands-on experience in electrical engineering specifically tailored to transportation or large-scale public infrastructure projects.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is strictly required.

Licensure: Active Professional Engineer (PE) license is strictly required.

Sector Background: Demonstrated, proven track record delivering projects for transit/rail systems as well as highways, bridges, tunnels, and airports.
Desired Skillsets

Technical Design Expertise: Deep technical mastery in power distribution (medium and low voltage), lighting/controls, traction power/substations, communications, SCADA, fire life safety, emergency power, ITS, and signal power.

Analytical Capabilities: Proficient in executing load analysis, short-circuit analysis, grounding, protection coordination, and comprehensive energy studies.

Regulatory & Code Mastery: Full working compliance knowledge of standard industry codes: NEC, NFPA, IEEE, AASHTO, alongside regional or local transportation authority standards.

Leadership & Soft Skills: Highly developed communication and presentation skills; natural aptitude for cross-functional collaboration and mentoring junior-to-mid-level engineering staff.
Position Requirements & Duties

Technical Leadership: Lead the comprehensive design, calculation modeling, specification drafting, and technical report writing for complex electrical infrastructure.

Project Management Coordination: Serve as the discipline lead or technical manager for the electrical scope on large, multi-disciplinary teams; coordinate directly with civil, structural, mechanical, and systems engineering divisions.

Project Strategy Support: Assist in building out project schedules, staffing plans, budgetary tracking, and risk mitigation models; actively participate in constructability reviews and quality control checks.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a primary technical interface with transportation agencies, utility companies, contractors, and client representatives. Present intricate technical frameworks to non-technical audiences.

Business Development Contribution: Support proposal development workflows by drafting scope definitions, architectural fee estimates, and comprehensive technical narratives.

Team Mentorship: Perform technical reviews on deliverables, offering constructive feedback to guide the professional growth of junior and mid-level engineers.
Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $175,000 - $225,000 per year (Determined based on experience, depth of qualification, and location).
