Position Overview

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and perform comprehensive engineering evaluations, analyses, field inspections, design drawings, technical specifications, and cost estimations.

  • Lead and perform standard mechanical engineering analysis of existing and new building mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems.

  • Utilize the latest building codes and technologies to deliver optimized system designs.

  • Act as a technical expert to coach, mentor, and develop junior engineering staff.

Mandatory Qualifications
  • Licensure: Active New York State Professional Engineer (NYS PE) license is strictly required.

  • Education: Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.

  • Experience:

    • 10-25 years of post-college design experience.

    • Minimum of 5 years of direct management or supervisory experience.

  • Technical Codes: Working knowledge of New York State Mechanical, Energy, and Plumbing codes, as well as NFPA standards.

  • Software Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Compliance: Valid Driver's License and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) for required travel.

Desired Skillsets & Preferred Background
  • Experience designing HVAC and plumbing systems specifically for schools (K-12/Higher Education), healthcare facilities, and commercial projects.

  • Specific technical expertise in chilled and hot water systems, industrial process-related mechanical systems, building HVAC, controls, plumbing systems, and fire protection.

  • Energy Modeling experience utilizing Carrier HAP, TRANE TRACE, or eQUEST.

  • LEED Green Associate credential and/or Building Commissioning experience.

Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • Professional in-office environment.

  • Requires prolonged periods of sitting at a computer.

  • May require travel to New York State job sites approximately 10% of the time.

  • Ability to lift up to 15 lbs.
