AVP - Senior Electrical Engineer

We are partnered with a leading multidisciplinary engineering, architecture, and construction management firm seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join their growing Transportation Infrastructure team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced PE-licensed Electrical Engineer to take a leadership role on complex transportation projects across transit, rail, highways, tunnels, bridges, and airport infrastructure. The position offers the opportunity to lead multidisciplinary project teams, mentor engineers, and work directly with major public-sector transportation agencies throughout the Northeast.

What You'll Be Doing

Technical Leadership & Design

  • Lead the design and delivery of electrical systems for transportation infrastructure projects
  • Develop power distribution, lighting, controls, SCADA, communications, traction power, emergency power, and fire life safety systems
  • Prepare and review electrical calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports
  • Perform load flow, short-circuit, grounding, protection coordination, and energy studies
  • Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA, IEEE, AASHTO, and agency-specific standards
  • Evaluate innovative and sustainable electrical solutions for transportation facilities

Project Leadership & Coordination

  • Serve as the Electrical Discipline Lead on multidisciplinary transportation projects
  • Coordinate closely with civil, structural, mechanical, and systems engineering teams
  • Support project planning, staffing, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management activities
  • Participate in design reviews, constructability reviews, QA/QC processes, and value engineering studies

Client Engagement & Business Development

  • Interface directly with transportation agencies, utilities, contractors, and project stakeholders
  • Present technical solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Support proposal preparation, scope development, fee estimates, and technical narratives

Mentorship & Team Development

  • Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers
  • Perform technical reviews and provide guidance to ensure high-quality deliverables
  • Support the development of internal standards, best practices, and engineering procedures
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required
  • 15+ years of electrical engineering experience
  • Strong transportation infrastructure project experience
  • Proven experience working on transit, rail, highway, bridge, tunnel, or airport projects
  • Expertise in power distribution, lighting, controls, communications, SCADA, and emergency power systems
  • Strong client-facing, project leadership, and team management skills
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and delivering large-scale infrastructure projects
