About the Opportunity
We're partnering with a respected structural engineering consulting firm that has been delivering innovative structural solutions throughout the Tri-State area for over 25 years. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Structural Project Manager looking to take ownership of a diverse portfolio of building projects while working closely with firm leadership in a collaborative, technically focused environment.
This position offers the chance to lead projects from initial concept through construction while working directly with architects, developers, contractors, municipalities, and owners across a wide range of markets. The firm prides itself on providing practical engineering solutions, maintaining strong client relationships, and giving project managers the autonomy to make decisions and drive successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage structural engineering projects from proposal through construction administration.
- Lead the structural design of new buildings, renovations, additions, and restoration projects.
- Coordinate directly with architects, developers, contractors, and owners throughout project delivery.
- Prepare and review structural calculations, construction documents, reports, and technical specifications.
- Perform structural analysis and design for steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, timber, and foundation systems.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, quality control, and client expectations.
- Conduct site visits, existing building evaluations, and structural assessments.
- Oversee condition assessment reports, feasibility studies, and peer reviews where required.
- Mentor junior engineers and technical staff while reviewing engineering work for quality and accuracy.
- Collaborate with in-house MEP engineers on multidisciplinary building projects when required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required or ability to obtain New Jersey licensure through reciprocity.
- 6+ years of structural engineering experience within a consulting environment.
- Experience managing commercial, institutional, municipal, mixed-use, residential, or restoration projects.
- Strong knowledge of IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, NDS, and applicable building codes.
- Experience designing steel, concrete, masonry, timber, and foundation systems.
- Proficiency with structural analysis and design software such as RAM Structural System, RISA-3D, ETABS, STAAD, Enercalc, or similar.
- Excellent communication and client management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining high technical standards.
