The Role

We are seeking a licensed Land Survey Manager to lead surveying and mapping projects while overseeing technical staff, field crews, and project delivery. This role combines technical expertise, project management, client relationship management, and business development responsibilities.

The successful candidate will serve as the licensed surveyor of record, ensuring the delivery of high-quality survey products that support land development, infrastructure, and community-focused projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sign, seal, and take professional responsibility for survey documents prepared under your supervision.
  • Lead and manage surveying and mapping projects from planning through final delivery.
  • Coordinate and supervise field crews, including assigning work, providing technical guidance, and reviewing deliverables.
  • Prepare and oversee boundary surveys, ALTA/NSPS surveys, record maps, and other survey-related deliverables.
  • Ensure survey work products meet quality, schedule, and client expectations.
  • Conduct project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and technical coordination activities.
  • Build and maintain client relationships while identifying opportunities for additional services.
  • Support business development efforts, including proposal preparation and project pursuits.
  • Perform quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) reviews of survey deliverables.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams supporting land development, transportation, and infrastructure projects.

Requirements

  • Licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) in New York State or equivalent licensure eligible for New York registration.
  • Minimum of 6 years of progressive land surveying experience.
  • Strong knowledge of boundary surveying principles, ALTA/NSPS surveys, and record mapping.
  • Experience utilizing GPS/GNSS technology, robotic total stations, and conventional survey methods.
  • Proficiency with survey processing software and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing field crews and technical staff.
  • Strong understanding of local survey regulations, procedures, and industry standards.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and client management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including advanced math and geometry skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in office and field environments.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
