Design Engineer - Civil Engineering (Land Development)

We are seeking a motivated Design Engineer to join our Pottstown, PA office. This role is ideal for an 2+ year civil engineer looking to build technical expertise while contributing to a variety of exciting land development projects. You'll work alongside experienced project managers and senior designers in a collaborative environment that encourages learning, innovation, and professional growth.
What You'll Do
- Assist in the design of residential, commercial, retail, industrial, and institutional land development projects throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania.
- Prepare and develop sketch plans, site plans, grading plans, utility layouts, roadway profiles, and supporting construction documents.
- Apply engineering principles to stormwater management, erosion and sediment control (E&S), and utility design.
- Research and interpret zoning ordinances, subdivision and land development regulations, stormwater requirements, and other agency standards to ensure project compliance.
- Prepare subdivision and land development plan sets, reports, permit applications, and technical submissions.
- Independently manage smaller design assignments while supporting senior engineers on larger, more complex projects.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and design staff to coordinate project schedules, priorities, and deliverables.
- Participate in project meetings and communicate progress, timelines, and potential design challenges.
- Contribute ideas and technical solutions that help drive successful project outcomes.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- 2-3 years of experience in private land development or subdivision design.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D is required.
- Experience with Hydroflow stormwater software is a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Understanding of grading, utilities, stormwater management, and erosion & sediment control design.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
- A proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and grow within a collaborative engineering team.
