A leading engineering consulting firm is seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer to join its growing Transportation & Infrastructure team in Edison, New Jersey.
This is a strategic growth opportunity for an experienced Water Resources professional looking to help build and lead an in-house hydraulic and hydrologic practice supporting major transportation, bridge, resiliency, and infrastructure projects throughout New Jersey and New York.
The role offers strong leadership visibility, technical ownership, and long-term career growth within a highly collaborative multidisciplinary environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) analyses for bridge, culvert, roadway, and resiliency projects
- Develop and review HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HydroCAD, and related hydraulic models
- Perform floodplain analysis, scour analysis, drainage studies, and stormwater management design
- Prepare technical reports and supporting documentation for NJDOT, NJDEP, NYSDOT, and related agency submissions
- Support flood hazard area and permitting efforts
- Coordinate closely with bridge, roadway, and civil engineering teams to deliver integrated project solutions
- Lead stormwater and drainage system design including culverts, detention systems, and green infrastructure
- Participate in site visits, field investigations, and construction support activities
- Mentor junior staff and support technical development across the team
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or relevant degree.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required in New Jersey; New York PE preferred or ability to obtain
- 8+ years of water resources and hydraulic engineering experience
- Strong experience with NJDOT, NJDEP, NYSDOT, and/or NYSDEC standards and permitting processes
- Proficiency with HEC-RAS required; HEC-HMS, HydroCAD, StormCAD, or PondPack experience preferred
- Experience with bridge hydraulics, scour analysis, and floodplain modeling required
