Having joined Conrad in 2016 I was brand new to the recruitment industry and, rather than that being a disadvantage, my freshness has meant that I bring a lot of enthusiasm and vigour to the role.
Having spent the last 7 years living in Australia my professional background includes working within the Gas & Oil industry as a Safety Advisor on one of the world’s largest resource projects – The Gorgon Project, Barrow Island. However, having been Burnley born and bred I found the draw of the bright lights and dizzying heights of my hometown, one of Britain’s more forward-thinking and exciting towns, too strong to ignore and so I packed my bags and set sail for a return to Blighty.
Upon my arrival I discovered Conrad Consulting and, after meeting with the guys in the Leeds office, I knew it was the ideal place to make my next career move. Their personable nature makes them a pleasure to work with and you can see that this feeling extends to the clients and candidates they deal with on a daily basis. If I can add this to my professionalism and willingness to go the extra mile for clients and candidates then I’m sure I can make a success of my position at Conrad.
Unfortunately I am unable to bring an Australian twang to the role as despite a lot of people telling me I would lose my accent out there, I am still blessed/cursed with a charming Burnley accent. However, you may be interested to know that during my time in Australia I did manage to single-handedly pull a Hammer-Head Shark out of the water and on to a boat. Now if we consider the fact that even the late great Steve Irwin didn’t fare too well with a simple Sting-Ray, I’m sure that pretty much makes me a legend in Australia!
